About Our Last Event

Façades attempted to bring to light the diverse and often complicated idea of the Guyanese identity. The first inquiry into identity came from Jermana de Freitas, who took a closer look at a Guyanese icon, the colonial house. In her presentation de Freitas focused on details from these magnificent structures which may elude our consciousness.

Following de Freitas, Laron Gulliver invited us into her world as she attempted to understand her own identity; being a black female in a world socially conditioned to objectify and dictate how she should be represented.
